Estrella Vista Elementary
We are excited to have the sound of footsteps and happy students back in the hallways of Estrella Vista School! Students returned to rested teachers and fresh clean classrooms. We are thankful to our Custodial Crew that came through our school this summer and left it shiny and sparkling for our return.
This year’s Meet the Teacher Night packed all of our entryways as students hurried to see their teacher’s smiling face and gain tidbits of what they might be learning this school year. Estrella Vista is happy to welcome – new teachers: Ms. Brennan, 2nd Grade; Ms. Schultz, 5th Grade; Ms. Cole, 5th Grade; Ms. Wahl, 6th Grade; Ms. Callahan, 6th Grade; Mr. Balder, 6th Grade; and in Middle School, Ms. Meyer and Ms. Smith and Ms. Yonke, Art 1-8.
Estrella Vista continues to look for opportunities to increase parent involvement. This year’s first PTA meeting boasted one of the biggest attended meetings to date. Not only was there an overflow of parents, but the teacher turnout was also impressive. Kudos to all that attended, we are hoping to double the attendance at the next meeting.
7th and 8th Grade Students had the opportunity to attend a presentation on Internet Safety put on by the non-profit organization “Not my Kid”. Ms. Jessica, the presenter did a great job of engaging our students throughout the presentation. We look forward to the next presentation in November on Substance Abuse.
We are excited to provide an additional outlet to our students to re-affirm the importance of making good choices.
Estella Vista looks forward to this year’s First Friday Assembly, which will take place September 3rd. Teachers and staff always look forward to the opportunity to recognize students for making good choices. Ms. Siems and Mr. Nelson will spearhead this year’s monthly recognition assemblies.
Tres Rios Elementary
We started our year with some great staff development opportunities during pre-service week. We would like to thank Dr. Freeman and Mr. Fisher for facilitating our two-day 21 Keys training and Mr. Halley and Ms. Gomez for facilitating our CCB training. We look forward to continuing our work with positive affirmations and AYP training for our students. We will continue our focus on developing, practicing, living and celebrating our vision and values.
We would like to welcome our newest little puma to the family. Gabriella Gianni was born to 1st grade teacher, Ms. Forney-Lee, on August 29th. Both mom and baby are doing great. Ms. Lee’s 1st

We are “Off to a Great Start” with students this year. We celebrated students making good choices and demonstrating positive expectations with a prize drawing at the end of each day for our first two weeks. Students worked hard to get their Great Start Tickets in the drawing box each day, and were proud to show off their racing pencils and erasers. We will continue celebrating positive choices with our weekly and monthly Puma Paw drawings.
