Notice of Order and Call of Maintenance and Operations Fund Budget Revenue Control Limit Override Election for Littleton School District No. 65 of Maricopa County, Arizona

To the Qualified Electors of Littleton Elementary School District No. 65 of Maricopa County, Arizona:

A budget override question will be included on the ballot for the special election to be held on November 7, 2023 (the “Election”). The purpose of the Election is to permit qualified electors of Littleton Elementary School District No. 65 of Maricopa County, Arizona (the “District”), to vote specifically on the following question:

• Shall the Governing Board of Littleton Elementary School District No. 65 of Maricopa County, Arizona (the “School District”), adopt maintenance and operations budgets which allow the School District to continue to exceed the revenue control limit specified by law in the amount of not more than fifteen percent (15%) per fiscal year for fiscal year 2024–2025 and the next subsequent six (6) fiscal years thereafter?
• The 2024–2025 proposed continuation of the budget increase of the School District budget will exceed the alternate proposed School District budget by approximately $0. The amount of the proposed increase will be based on a percentage of the School District’s revenue control limit in future years as provided in Section 15-481(P), Arizona Revised Statutes. Any budget increase continuation authorized by this election shall be entirely funded by a levy of taxes on the taxable property in this School District for the year for which adopted and for six subsequent years, shall not be realized from monies furnished by the state and shall not be subject to the limitation on taxes specified in article IX, section 18, Constitution of Arizona. Based on the current net assessed valuation used for secondary property tax purposes, to fund the proposed continuation of the increase in the School District’s budget would require an estimated continuation of a tax rate of $1.52 per $100 of assessed valuation used for secondary property tax purposes and is in addition to the School District’s tax rate that will be levied to fund the School District’s revenue control limit allowed by law.

 The Election will be a mailed ballot-only election. Ballots will be mailed to qualified electors residing within the District not more than 27 days before the Election and not fewer than 15 days before the Election as provided by law. Designated locations for replacing ballots that have been lost, spoiled, destroyed, or not received by the elector are available from the Maricopa County Elections Department (the “County Elections Department”), 111 South Third Avenue, Phoenix, Arizona 85003, telephone number: 602-506-3535. The County Elections Department will be open until 7:00 p.m. on the day of the Election for the qualified elector to receive a replacement ballot in person. Any qualified elector is eligible for early voting. Early voting materials may be obtained by contacting the County Elections Department.

A los Electores Con Derecho a Voto del Distrito Escolar Primario Núm. 65 de Littleton del Condado de Maricopa, Arizona:

Se incluirá una pregunta sobre el aumento al presupuesto en la boleta para la elección especial que se llevará a cabo el 7 de noviembre de 2023 (la “Elección”). La cantidad del aumento propuesto se basará en un porcentaje del límite de control de ingresos del Distrito Escolar en años futuros de conformidad con lo dispuesto en la Sección 15-481(P), Estatutos Revisados de Arizona. La Elección será una elección solamente de boletas electorales enviadas por correo. Las boletas se enviarán por correo a los electores con derecho a voto que residen dentro del Distrito no antes de 27 días antes de la Elección y a más tardar 15 días antes de la Elección. Hay lugares designados disponibles para reemplazar boletas que se hayan perdido, estropeado, destruido o que no hayan sido recibidas por el elector por parte del Departamento de Elecciones del Condado de Maricopa (el “Departamento de Elecciones del Condado”), 111 South Third Avenue, Phoenix, Arizona 85003, número de teléfono: 602-506-3535. El Departamento de Elecciones del Condado abrirá hasta las 7:00 p.m. en el día de la Elección para que los electores calificados reciban una boleta de reemplazo en persona.
