Full-Day Kindergarten

Free full day kindergarten is now available. Littleton Schools are currently enrolling students from 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, at the Littleton Family Welcome Center located at:

1252 S. Avondale Blvd.

According to the Arizona Department of Education, “Many benefits exist for children who attend full-day kindergarten programs, not the least of which is greater school success in later years. Parents and teachers also benefit from children’s presence in an all day setting, further increasing the positive effects on children’s learning.”

The Littleton full-day kindergarten curriculum focuses on reading with a strong base of phonics, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies and special subjects including music, art, and PE. The goal is for students to be independent thinkers and learners as they are prepared for a successful school experience. The Littleton School District has experienced dramatic increases in student achievement during the past few years. As part of the district goals and campus improvement plans, Littleton District has engaged in intensive professional development of both teachers and administrators. As a result, the district is pleased to have achieved a “B” ranking according to the Arizona Department of Education, and we are working towards being an “A” district. Littleton prides itself on its strong values and character education programs, focusing on a productive culture and demonstrating continuous improvement in the teaching and learning of all Littleton students. 21st Century Technology in All Classrooms

The Littleton District provides the necessary resources and training to ensure that staff, students, and community members can successfully use technology to enhance their educational opportunities, career goals, and personal lives. The district utilizes computers attached to the network in all classrooms, and our classrooms are equipped with the technology tools that define 21st-Century classrooms. This means teachers can use computers attached to the network, a projector, and a document camera.

Technology has become critical to Littleton’s assessment system. The district and schools utilize scanners and rapid responders with information from the student information system to work with Galileo, the district online assessment tool. Additionally, the Technology Department works side by side with the Curriculum Department, as the delivery of information has changed from simple text books to CDs or online media. To this end, Littleton will ensure access and availability of e-products and up-to-date technology advances that will prepare students to be global citizens who are technologically literate.

Kids at Hope, Art, Band, Music, PE, and Sports Programs

Littleton Elementary District is a leader in learning, caring, and growing and believes in educating the whole child. In addition to high student achievement, we place a strong emphasis on maintaining vital programs including art, music, band, physical education, and sports programs in all schools.

The district has committed time, energy, and resources to becoming a Kids at Hope district, embracing the philosophy that “All kids are capable of success—no exceptions.” This empowering program believes “every child is afforded the belief, guidance, and encouragement that creates a sense of hope and optimism, supported by a course of action needed to experience success at life’s four major destinations: home and family; education and career; community and service; and hobbies and recreation.”
